Predators’ Luke Schenn frustrated by lack of scoring
Nashville has lost eight of its last 10 games and scored more than two goals only twice in that span. The club is tied for 31st in the NHL with 2.56 goals per game despite adding 40-goal scorers Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault in free agency.

Things keep going from bad to worse for the Nashville Predators.
After making multiple aggressive off-season additions, the team never managed to find its footing and will miss the playoffs for just the second time in the last 11 seasons.
The Preds seemingly hit a new low on Tuesday with a 4-1 loss to the defending champion Panthers, during which captain Roman Josi was injured on a hit by Sam Bennett that resulted in a boarding penalty. The loss dropped the Predators to 20-30-7 on the season.
“You don’t even really know what to say anymore as far as the overall team game,” defenceman Luke Schenn said, according to Russell Vannozzi of Main Street Nashville. “Nothing’s easy, obviously. I don’t think I’ve ever been part of a group where you literally can’t score goals.”

If Josi misses any time, the frustration will only continue to build for the Predators. The team is already playing without defencemen Jeremy Lauzon and Adam Wilsby due to season-ending injuries.
“We’re already having a hard enough time back there,” head coach Andrew Brunette said, according to Vannozzi. “I think with his mobility and what he brings to our hockey team — obviously, he’s our captain and our best player — he’s irreplaceable for us. We’ll just see how he is and what the future holds. It gives another opportunity to some of the young kids to hopefully solidify a position here.”
