Rangers’ Matt Rempe recalled from AHL Hartford

After a short stint in Connecticut, the New York Rangers recalled forward Matt Rempe on Monday from the Hartford Wolf Pack, the team’s AHL affiliate.

Rempe suited up for two games with the Wolf Pack after being sent down. He did not tally any points or penalty minutes and finished with a minus-3 rating.

The 22-year-old was sent down on Oct. 24 after being a healthy scratch for all but two games up to that point in the season. He hasn’t seen NHL action since Oct. 19 and has just a combined 11:17 of ice time across his two games.

Rempe burst into the NHL last season and quickly made a name for himself as an enforcer. He racked up 71 penalty minutes in 17 games, scoring one goal and one assist on a 5:38 average TOI.

Rempe played 43 games for the Wolf Pack last season, notching eight goals and 12 points with 96 penalty minutes.

The Calgary native was selected in the sixth round of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Rangers. He previously played in the WHL, serving as alternate captain for the Seattle Thunderbirds.
