Even in a win, the struggling New York Rangers can’t seem to catch a break.

Beating the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday for just their third victory through the last 11 games came with a cost as K’Andre Miller, is headed to injured reserve, the Rangers announced on Friday.

Miller, 24, left that contest before the start of the third period with what the team described as an upper-body injury. It’s unclear how or when exactly the injury occurred.

Up to that point in the game, Miller had played 13:42 with one hit, two blocked shots and a shot on goal.

The 22nd-overall pick in 2018 has been a steady presence on the Rangers’ blue line, averaging the second-most ice time on the team at 21:38 per game. Miller has logged two goals and four assists in 27 games prior to his stint on IR.

Meanwhile, the Rangers return to action on Saturday as they host the Los Angeles Kings. Should they win, it would be the first time in nearly a month that New York has won back-to-back contests.
