The Detroit Red Wings have placed goaltender Ville Husso on waivers, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Sunday.

Husso was pulled at 5:28 into the second period during a 6-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins this past Thursday after allowing four goals on 14 shots.

The 29-year-old from Helsinki, Finland, is in the final season of a three-year, $14.25 million contract he signed with the Red Wings in July 2022 shortly after he was acquired from the St. Louis Blues.

Husso holds a career 69-41-16 record, 3.03 goals-against average and .902 save percentage in 133 games over five years with the Blues and Red Wings.

Meanwhile, the Montreal Canadiens announced they have placed forward Alex Barre-Boulet on waivers for the purpose of a loan to the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League.

Barre-Boulet has played two games with the Canadiens this season recording two penalty minutes and a minus-2 rating.

The 27-year-old from Montmagny, Que., signed a one-year, $775,000, contract with Montreal on July 1. He recorded six goals and nine points in 36 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning last season.
