According to the New York Post‘s Mollie Walker, the Rangers are holding forward Reilly Smith out of the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Nashville Predators for roster management purposes.
Smith, a veteran of 14 NHL seasons, was traded to New York by the Pittsburgh Penguins last summer and is set to be a UFA at the end of the year.
The 33-year-old has 10 goals, 29 points and a minus-1 rating while averaging 15:36 of ice time over 58 games with the Rangers in 2024-25.
Since making his NHL debut in 2011-12, Smith has played with the Rangers, Penguins, Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers and Vegas Golden Knights.
His career-best season came in 2019-20 with Vegas, when he scored 27 goals and totalled 54 points.
