Report: Tests confirm Patrick Mahomes is week-to-week with a mild high-ankle sprain
The Chiefs host the Texans on Saturday and then travel to Pittsburgh on Christmas.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said on Sunday that he'd know more about his right ankle injury after having tests on Monday and those tests reportedly backed up the initial read on the severity of the issue.
That read was that Mahomes suffered a high-ankle sprain during the 21-7 win over the Browns and that he'd likely be considered week-to-week in terms of his return timeline. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that tests confirmed that diagnosis.
The Chiefs have a home game against the Texans on Saturday and they will be in Pittsburgh to face the Steelers on Christmas, so there won't be much time for Mahomes to heal up before either of the team's next two games.
Practice reports will shed more light on Mahomes's status, but it could be Carson Wentz under center as the Chiefs continue their push for the top seed in the AFC.
