Erik Brannstrom is on the move again.

The Buffalo Sabres acquired the well-travelled defenceman from the New York Rangers for forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel just prior to Friday’s trade deadline.

The Colorado Avalanche traded Brannstrom to the Vancouver Canucks after training camp before the Canucks shipped him to the Rangers in January as part of the J.T. Miller deal.

Brannstrom, 25, was with New York’s AHL affiliate in Hartford and didn’t play with the Rangers.

The Ottawa Senators did not tender Brannstrom a qualifying offer after last season, making the former Vegas Golden Knights first-round pick a UFA.

Aube-Kubel, 28, has split his season between Buffalo and AHL Rochester.
