The Sabres will be without one of their best enforcers as they attempt to climb up from the bottom of the Atlantic division.

Buffalo forward Jordan Greenway will be out long-term after undergoing surgery to a mid-body injury, head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters on Thursday after practice.

Despite not providing a timeline for the injury, Ruff expects Greenway to be able to return later this season.

Greenway, 27, missed the Sabres’ last outing against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. He last suited up for the team last Sunday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Health has been a recurring issue for Greenway this season, as the Canton, N.Y. native was out from Nov. 14 to Dec. 9 with a mid-body injury, missing 10 games.

Despite missing time, the left-winger has three goals and four assists in 20 games this season to go along with 19 blocked shots and 54 hits.

Buffalo is set for a rematch against the Maple Leafs on Friday night.
