Senators’ Nick Cousins out six-to-eight weeks with knee injury

The Ottawa Senators lineup just got a little less brawny.
Forward Nick Cousins will miss six-to-eight weeks with a knee injury sustained in Saturday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, head coach Travis Green said on Wednesday.
Cousins was involved in a knee-on-knee collision near centre ice with Leafs forward Jacob Quillan, who was making his NHL debut.
Both players went sprawling across the ice and eventually needed help off, but it appeared Cousins bore the brunt of the crash as he left without putting any weight on his left leg and was ruled out shortly after.
Quillan, meanwhile, returned to the game for the Leafs.

Green said Cousins, who won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Florida Panthers last season and signed a one-year contract with Ottawa in August, is getting “a couple different opinions” on the injury.
In 46 games with the Senators, he’s posted five goals, eight assists and 39 penalty minutes.
Meanwhile, Green said there’s a chance goalie Linus Ullmark, who has been out since Dec. 22 with a back injury, could return on the team’s current homestand, which lasts through Saturday’s contest against the Minnesota Wild.
“(He’s) coming along nicely,” Green said.
Green added that defenceman Nick Jensen, who has missed the past two games with an undisclosed injury, skated today. His availability for Thursday’s game against the Washington Capitals remains unclear.
Blueliner Jacob Bernard-Docker remains 10-to-14 days away from skating, Green said.
