Senators’ Thomas Chabot day-to-day after taking a puck to face

The Ottawa Senators will be without defenceman Thomas Chabot as they welcome one of the NHL’s best teams, the Washington Capitals, to the Canadian capital on Thursday night.

Per Julian McKenzie of The Athletic, Chabot is day-to-day after taking a puck to the face, forcing him to leave early during Tuesday’s 2-0 win versus the New York Islanders.

It doesn’t seem like Chabot will be out for long as he was on the ice for morning skate with a full face shield.

The 27-year-old defenceman has played in all 43 Ottawa games this season, putting up three goals and 16 assists for 19 points.

With Chabot out, Donovan Sebrango, 23, will slot into the lineup and make his NHL debut. In 28 games with AHL Belleville, the Ottawa-born defenceman has three goals and 10 assists for 13 points.

Chabot, who is in year five of an eight-year, $64-million deal ($8M AAV), has 278 points in 475 career games for the Senators.

The Senators are 22-18-3 and sit one point out of a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
