The Ottawa Senators will be down a defenceman as they finish out Wednesday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets.
The team announced mid-way through the second period that Tyler Kleven sustained a lower-body injury and will not return to the game.
Though it’s not immediately clear when he was injured, Kleven hadn’t taken a shift since his heavyweight bout with Jets captain Adam Lowry following a hit Kleven laid on Mason Appleton.
Kleven finished the game with 2:25 TOI.
In 57 games for the Senators this season, the 23-year-old blueliner has two goals and two assists with 23 penalty minutes, including five on Wednesday.
This comes as the latest in a string of injuries for the Senators, who took on the Jets down captain Brady Tkachuk and centremen Josh Norris and Shane Pinto.
