San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky was fined $25,000 for inappropriate conduct, the NHL announced Tuesday.
The NHL Foundation receives the fine money.
Warsofsky was critical of officials during San Jose’s 4-3 loss to Utah on Saturday.
“It’s something that I’m trying to get better at,” Warsofsky said, according to Bay Area News Group reporter Curtis Pashelka. “At the same time, I’m passionate. I wear my emotions on my sleeve. Sometimes it gets the best of me, but at the end of the day, I gotta have our players back, and that’s not gonna change.”
Warsofsky is in his first season as head coach of the Sharks (11-17-5) with the team sitting seventh in the Pacific Division.
The 37-year-old previously served as an assistant coach and was promoted on June 13 after the team fired David Quinn.
