Sidney Crosby stands alone atop the hockey world once again.

With a goal on Thursday, Crosby surpassed a point-per-game in 20 straight seasons, breaking Wayne Gretzky’s previous record of 19.

The three-time Stanley Cup winner found the back of the net in the first period against the Buffalo Sabres, solidifying himself as the most consistent player in NHL history.

The 37-year-old leads the NHL in five-on-five scoring and has 80 points on the season. Crosby missed two games back in February and if he suits up for every game down the stretch, he will finish the year with 80 games played.

Gretzky failed to eclipse the point-per-game threshold once in his career, during his final season in 1999, racking up 62 points in 70 games.

Crosby recently passed Gretzky for fourth most points all-time with one franchise (1,670), and now only trails former teammate Mario Lemieux (1,723) and Detroit Red Wings legends Steve Yzerman (1,755) and Gordie Howe (1,809).

The Penguins currently sit on the outside of the Eastern Conference playoff race, six points out of a wild-card spot entering Thursday’s contest.
