Stankoven had 500 friends, family coming to Stars game vs. Canucks

Close to 500 of Logan Stankoven‘s family and friends were in the building Sunday night to watch the Dallas Stars take on the Canucks in Vancouver.

The only problem? Stankoven was 4,800 km away suiting up for the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh, N.C.

Stankoven was part of the return the Stars sent to the Hurricanes in the Mikko Rantanen trade on Friday. The deal meant the Kamloops, B.C., native missed the Stars’ only trip to Vancouver this season.

Stars radio analyst Bruce LeVine reported that despite the trade, many of Stankoven’s family and friends still traveled to Vancouver and cheered on their favourite son at a bar as he scored the game-winning goal for the Hurricanes in his debut. Then, they still attended the Stars-Canucks game later that night.

Can’t let a good ticket go to waste.
