One of the ugliest injuries of this NFL season happened on Sunday when Dolphins wide receiver Grant DuBose was down on the field for several minutes and eventually taken directly to the hospital after a helmet-to-helmet hit from Texans safety Calen Bullock. Unsurprisingly, the NFL fined Bullock for the hit.
But it is surprising that Bullock was fined just $5,916 for that hit, the league announced today. Hits like Bullock's often draw significantly greater consequences for the league office.
Bullock actually got two different $5,916 fines for Sunday's game. He picked up a separate fine for another illegal hit in the game. So in total his paycheck will be docked $11,832.
DuBose is now out of the hospital and back in Miami. He has been placed on injured reserve with a brain injury.
