One of the most important prospects in the Montreal Canadiens farm system has returned from a significant injury.
Defenceman David Reinbacher skated in two games for the AHL’s Laval Rocket last week, both losses to the Manitoba Moose.
Reinbacher, the fifth-overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, was injured during an NHL pre-season game and had knee surgery in early October. His initial timeline for recovery was five-to-six months.
In the two games against the Moose, Reinbacher had zero points, two shots and two penalty minutes.
“I thought he was our best defenceman the first half of the game,” Rocket head coach Pascal Vincent said after Reinbacher’s first game, according to The Montreal Gazette. “His reads … killing plays … the first pass … his ability to anticipate what was happening in front of him. I was very impressed with him.”
