USA defenceman Charlie McAvoy will not play in Thursday’s 4 Nations Face-Off final against Canada.
The Boston Bruins announced that the defenceman was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital to undergo further testing on an upper-body injury on Monday.
The 27-year-old McAvoy did not play in the team’s 2-1 loss to Sweden in Monday’s round-robin finale.
Head coach Mike Sullivan said at the time that McAvoy was out with an upper-body injury.
McAvoy’s big hit on Connor McDavid on Saturday was seen as a momentum changer in the team’s 3-1 win over Canada in group play to book a spot in the final.
