‘We got robbed’: Flames unhappy with two disallowed goals vs. Stars

In the midst of a tight Western Conference playoff race, the Calgary Flames lost a very crucial match against the Dallas Stars in regulation, but not for lack of trying.
In addition to outshooting the Central Division juggernauts by more than double, they also had two goals disallowed upon further review in the first and second periods — two calls that potentially changed the momentum of the game.
The first came late in the opening frame, shortly after the Stars opened the scoring. Nazem Kadri sent a pass to Connor Zary in the crease, who then put it in the net. However, a league-initiated review determined that the puck was sent into the net with a kicking motion, and therefore, the goal was overturned.
Then, the Flames thought they had tied the game in the second period after a Blake Coleman shot from the slot found its way through Stars goaltender Casey DeSmith.
Not so, as the on-ice officials determined that Flame Joel Farabee interfered with DeSmith after a coach’s challenge from Pete DeBoer.

Added Kadri, “I certainly feel we got robbed tonight.”
Had the two goals counted, they would have not only tied the game but also put them ahead of the Stars in the second period. Dallas went on to win the game 5-2.
“I thought both called-off goals were goals, so that’s all I can say,” head coach Ryan Huska said after the game. “[The ambiguity] is the hard part. You try to stay up with what’s called and what’s not being called, and sometimes you think there’s one that there’s no chance that’s going to stand and it stands. That’s the hard part.”
The regulation loss puts the Flames six points out of the second wild-card spot with three games in hand.
