The chase for the NHL’s all-time goals record continues for Alex Ovechkin.
The 39-year-old came into the season with a tough task to surpass Wayne Gretzky, who has held the top mark with 894 goals since retiring in 1999, needing 42 goals.
However, Ovechkin has turned back the clock this season with 30 goals in 43 games. Had it not been for a fibula injury he suffered back in November, the Capitals captain might have already set the record or at least be on the cusp of rewriting the record books.
