Why are Jones’ supporters dismissing Aspinall’s worthiness ?
The post is concerning the whole Aspinall-Jones situation. I want to ask what makes Tom Aspinall not a worthy opponent in your eyes, what's the reasoning apart from Jones claiming he is not worthy of it, a claim which he supports by pointing to the false narrative that Aspinall's record is lacking. Here's a few of Aspinall's victories: Sergei Pavlovich ( KOed rd1) Curtis Blaydes (KOed rd1) Marcin Tybura (KOed rd1) Alexander Volkov (KOed rd1) Serghei Spivac (KOed rd1) These are serious contenders in the division who he demolished and ran through. As much as Jones diminishes this fact. It's mind boggling how the current interim champion of the division is constantly calling out to fight the champion and instead of having unanimous support by fans on both sides. This is the Ultimate Fighting Championship, not "I was champion for a long time so I can fight whoever I want disregarding mandatory fights ". I want to also mention, noone can say with certainty that Aspinall can defeat him, and if someone is good for them, but as fans of the sport we should be pushing for the best of the best to fight each other, and the champion to be ready for every challenge. Jon's record is amazing, but it shouldn't keep from other fighters from chasing glory as well. If Jones wants to have fun fights, like with Pereira, he can pursue that all he wants, it's within his right, but either vacate or fight the number 1 contender and interim champion. I really hope now that Stipe is out of the way, this fight will go through or at least Aspinall will fight for the Vacated belt. And I hope that Jones' fans also desire the same results as we should be watching the best fight the best, and if you don't agree please say why. submitted by /u/Narutoman23 [link] [comments]
