Wild’s Ryan Hartman suspended 10 games for roughing Senators’ Tim Stutzle

The Minnesota Wild will be without forward Ryan Hartman for 10 games after the NHL Department of Player Safety handed him a suspension on Monday.
Hartman is facing discipline after a roughing incident against Ottawa Senators forward Tim Stutzle in their game on Saturday night.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, Hartman has 48 hours to decide if he wants to appeal. The first appeal would be to commissioner Gary Bettman and the second would be to an independent arbitrator.
The announcement of the suspension came after Hartman had an in-person hearing Monday afternoon.
The in-person hearing, as opposed to a phone call, offers the NHL the option to hand out a suspension of more than five games.

Hartman was removed from the game against the Senators at the 20:00 mark of the second period after receiving a five-minute “attempt to injure” match penalty for the action against Stutzle.
After the puck was dropped while the two were lined up for a faceoff, Hartman brought Stutzle down and pushed his head into the ice. The whistle was blown immediately, and Hartman was taken out of the game.
Stutzle had to be examined by the Senators’ medical team after the play as he was bleeding from a cut above his eye. He remained in the game.
Because of the nature of the penalty, the league will automatically undergo an additional supplemental discipline review. Hartman has previously been suspended four times in his 11-year NHL career, with the last coming on April 1, 2024 after throwing his stick at officials.
The 30-year-old has seven goals and 10 assists in 47 games this season for the Wild.
